tonight, our last in saigon, we have been on a cocktail crawl

vietnam plays and wins a seminal football match against thailand and the city goes ballistic
at dawn we laeve for the delta

Don't drown, and beware of the crocodiles.
How about land mines -- are there still any left? "Mekong Delta" (I suppose that's the "Delta" you mean?) still has a dangerous sound in my ears. Though it's all so long ago.
The Vietnam war still feels kind of "recent" to me, somehow.
